Course Overview
About the course
The 300hrs Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Course is an intensive onsite programme at Andiappan Yoga in Chennai. It is designed for committed yoga practitioners and teachers who want to deepen their understanding of therapeutic yoga, applied anatomy, Ayurvedic and yogic perspectives, and the responsible design of supportive yoga practices.
The programme brings together theory, guided practice, observation, case-based learning and teaching methodology. Students explore how yoga practices may be adapted for common musculoskeletal, lifestyle-related and stress-related concerns while learning to work carefully within professional scope and to refer appropriately when medical care is needed.
What you will study
The course explores yoga therapy foundations, applied anatomy, safe sequencing, breathwork, relaxation, meditation and practical approaches to common areas such as the spine, hips, knees, shoulders, stress management and women’s health. Students are guided to observe, assess and design clear, progressive yoga-therapy-oriented practices.
Onsite learning in Chennai
The in-person format gives students direct access to senior teachers, practical feedback, demonstrations and supervised teaching practice. It supports a disciplined and immersive study environment for students who want to develop skill, confidence and a strong foundation in the Andiappan Yoga tradition.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous yoga therapy experience to join?
Previous specialist yoga therapy experience is not required, but a committed yoga practice and a serious interest in deeper study are important. A prior 200-hour yoga teacher training is strongly recommended for students who intend to use the training professionally.
Will this course teach me to diagnose or treat medical conditions?
No. The programme teaches responsible yoga-therapy-oriented practice, adaptation and teaching methodology. It does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment, and students learn the importance of working within scope and referring to qualified healthcare professionals when appropriate.
What is the difference between the full-time and part-time batches?
Both batches follow the same 300-hour course pathway. The full-time batch is designed for a more intensive weekday schedule, while the part-time batch spreads the learning over a longer period with shorter weekday sessions.
If I complete your course, can I get registration with AYUSH Yoga Certification Board (YCB)?
To clarify your question about the AYUSH yoga certification process: you do not strictly need to complete a course at an AYUSH-registered school in order to obtain an AYUSH yoga certificate. After you complete the course you can apply directly for assessment through the Yoga Certification Board (YCB) under the Ministry of AYUSH, which means that self-study or training with any recognised institution is acceptable. Many of our students have completed their training with us, successfully registered with AYUSH, and are now working in both private and government organisations. After completing the course at our school, you may register online at https://www.yogaexam.in/ and apply for the relevant YCB examination; once you pass, your official government certificate will be available through your AYUSH profile portal. We would also encourage you not to choose a teacher training school based only on AYUSH eligibility. It is equally important to consider the depth of knowledge and experience of the teaching faculty, their qualifications, and their contribution to the development and authenticity of yoga. This will ensure that you receive a strong, comprehensive education that truly supports your long-term growth as a yoga professional.
